Jawdropping kitchen

I am speachless by this amazing kitchen. The sliding ladder, dark ceiling, the simplicity of white walls with contrasting chalkboard paint... What more can I say? Enjoy...

Bright WHITE !

Look at this bright white kitchen posted on Young House Love! I have always been envious of people with wood plank ceilings refinished in white. It has such a crafty and light feel. I love how this kitchen incorporates green too. Bright white and fresh green- what better for an inspirational area such as the kitchen?!

Rocking TURQUOISE

I have been thinking about painting the wall surrounding our fireplace a dark color but I normally think of a dark color being more of a niche color where the wall recedes back from it's surrounding walls. Since ours protrudes from it's surrounding planes I was having trouble figuring out what color could transform this wall. Seeing "Casey's Artful Loft" post on apartment therapy gave me a little more comfort in the dark wall. I'm also loving the dark turquoise color! Hopefully I will find a little time so I can complete this project!

White Living Room

On the contrary to yesterdays post, I am so inspired by white spaces. It's hard to fill a white space and have it looked finished. But if you find the right white and compliment it with rough wood and bright accessories like here, you get a light filled room that portrays a peaceful, clean feeling! Love the sea grass rug and half hazard places framed images on the fire place.

Dark Bathrooms

When I think of bathrooms I'm usually visualizing a bright clean space with lots of light. But i have been swooning over these dark bathrooms. It makes the space very tranquil and calm. I love the way the light "falls" down the dark tile in the first image.
Here the harsh natural light is soaked up by the dark tile. White towels add to the utilitarian feel of this bathroom with the claw foot tub and sleek hardware.
Again- here is my favorite mustard color popping out of it's dark surroundings! I also love the ornate white feet on the dark tub.

Dramatic Transformations

It's Friday! I woke up this morning thinking, "thank god this week is almost over!" This led me to reflect on my crazy week of constant phone calls at work and two new brides inquiring about invitations and remember that I was actually thinking clearly on Monday morning. Friday's are spent getting rid of all the clutter that built up during the week so I can get up again on Monday and breathe clearly! Maybe when I'm older I will learn how to stay positive throughout the week but until then my sanity will keep going through a dramatic transformation from Monday to Friday. Speaking of dramatic transformations, I would like to highlight some of the "before and afters" I have seen lately. It always blows my mind what you can come up with if you put a little TLC into something. Sherry and John at young house love have performed some dramatic transformations- here are some that blew my mind! Enjoy!

Before- a dark narrow room

After- a place to feel good!

Before- there are no words for this :)

After- amazing and bright kitchen
Before- dated white entrance

After- sunwashed living room!
Before- outdated red brick fireplace

After- fresh whitewashed dining/living room!Before- $20 craigslist find

After- nursery dresser

Inspired by the Clawfoot Tub

I have been drawn to vintage bathroom images lately...

Here is one where they painted the bottom of the tub and sink to match the wall color. It brings a little modern flair to the room.
Keep it simple w/ soft whites and an old bench.

I love the chandelier in this image. They completed the rustic vintage look w/ tin ceiling tiles on the wall and metal sitting chair next to the tub.

Stripes!

This bathroom is so amazing! I love how they painted the stripes over all of the molding. Just a drool worthy image I had to post... It's actually the bathroom at
The J.Crew Collection store in New York.

This is Jenna Lyons, the creative director of J.Crew's home bathroom.
Notice the resemblance?! I am so jealous of those rugged parquet floor boards!

Browsing

I was just browsing Apartment Therapy and found this great option for a night stand and fell in love with the wall color as well! It looks like a cross between charcoal and a really dark blue gray.
